Dear Ploy,

T
hank you for arranging the tour, we were quite happy with the arrangements. The hotel in Chiang Mai had besides reakfast no restaurant facilities and the room layout was not practical. The hotel in Bangkok was overall ok, the hotel in Chiang Rai was very nice and can be recommended. The tour program was as we expected, the tour guide in Chiang Mai was very knowledgeable and the drivers knew the job.

Dear Jiro,

Thank you for your e mail. I hope by now you have received our customer feedback form and know how delighted we were with the trip and your company. We thought it was absolutely marvellous and the organisation was fantastic. Please thank Mrs Ying too. We heard about the bombs when we arrived in Dubai to change planes, but there has been little reporting back in the UK. I hope there was not serious loss of life or injury. Our journey back was fine and we have recovered from the travelling. We just really miss the countries we were lucky enough to visit. The mix up about the Landmark didn't matter as we had plenty of time. Thanks for sorting it out.

Jan Church Dec 2006We will be happy to provide you with  testimonials to use on your  website, though it may not be till next week as we are both back at work and leading busy lives again. We will also send photos, we have over 300 so will select carefully!

We made a few changes to our itinery which you may feel would be useful or interesting to offer other customers.

In Bangkok at the end of the day we asked Chaiai if we could just spend a little time seeing the Koh Sang road and he was happy to do this, even though we then got caught in the traffic. It was interesting to see where all the young people "hang out" and wouldn't have felt like a visit to Bangkok without it.

Cambodia
After three days of visiting stunning temples in Anghor War area we decided to visit the [tiny] land mine museum in Siem Reap. It was a moving experience and I can send a photo of that. We learnt how the dangers are still present and how children particularly are affected. This small charity has a stall selling T shirts and scarves, giving people an opportunity to support them by buying the local products. It also has a donation box. We watched a video about Aki Ra who runs the charity. We felt we had been treated with kindness and hospitality throughout our short visit to Cambodia and this  visit enabled us to give something back. My colleagues at work had donated some money and we were able to donate $100 towards the upkeep of his work and the orphans he supports. There were only a few tourists there which is a pity as people probably don't know about it. We loved Siem Reap and this visit will be one of our special memories.

Laos
The other change you know about. We visited the orphanage school in Luang Prabang and took the pens and pencils we had brought from England as well as books and dictionaries that we bought in the local market [with the help of our guide Mr Chan]. We spent a little time in one class and it gave us the chance to meet the children. Again it was a moving and quite sad experience as the school is quite poor and the children do not receive any breakfast. Mrs Toon, the headteacher would welcome support from tourists as they want the children to be able to use computers and speak English. With more and more tourists visiting Laos that could help the children find work. Mr Chan, our guide in Luang Prabang was such a lovely young man and was very kind and really went out of his way to ensure that we enjoyed our visit. I think he was quite touched that we wanted to give something back to the people and the country.

By the time we reached Vietienne we really needed a break from a tour guide and temples so we mostly wandered by ourselves. We found the guide there difficult to understand anyway so much of what he said was wasted. The ciry didn't appeal to us though we enjoyed our evening and the Day Inn hotel was nice. I would recommend to other tourists to go straight to Luang Prabang which has so much more to offer.

A word about the hotels, they were all good but the Borei Anghor was just such a gorgeous hotel we didn't want to leave. The staff were fantastic and we loved the peace and quiet after busy days visiting temples. The pool was beautiful and the whole place was tranquil.
I realise it is probably one of your most expensive hotels but keep this one on any trip, it was one of the highlights and gorgeous memories.
We have some photos of it but they are probably on a website anyway. I would really recommend to people to pay any extra to stay there. Our guide also said it was his favourite hotel in the town even though there were other more expensive ones.

The Katcha hotel in Koh Chang was good too, but the resort was very touristy, which is fine for lots of people but we went off to a quiet beach every day.

We had the most wonderful trip and were very happy with all you booked for us. Thank you so much.

Best wishes to you for a healthy happy year.

Jiro,

Thank you for organizing a fabulous trip for us in Thailand and Cambodia! It’s a gamble to make arrangements with a company, un-known to me prior to our first communication and   halfway across the world.  But from the beginning, I have been happy with your professionalism, the interesting private itinerary that you prepared, your willingness to accommodate my specific requests, and frankly your reasonable price.

Marjory Marsel, Dec 2007The trip had a lot of variety. We learned history, we saw; antiquities { the main purpose of  our trip and they were  breath- taking!!!!}, villiage  life,  agro- industry, bamboo forests,  contemporary Bangkok, and  a world class exhibition “ the Royal Floral”!  We ate beautiful food and we were well cared for by your guides and drivers!  We loved every moment and we are now in the throws of organizing our photos to share our trip with friends and family! If you need some photos to fatten up your web site just ask!

Your guides were attentive, knowledgeable, always on time and waiting for us, even when our planes were late.  They were also enthusiastic about their job, even though I’m sure that they have been to each site a thousand times.  And it was refreshing that for the most part we were not pressured to shop, as is so often the case. { In fact, I  personally, but not my travel partners could have done more shopping!}

We were particularly impressed with Chaiya in Bangkok and Hod, our trekking guide. From Chaiya we learned of many of the nuances of life in Thailand.  Chaiya was open to answer any of our questions, including about his family life and his life as a monk. Hod, [really this man is superman] attended our every need, especially with our safety in mind.  He identified plants in the forest, prepared beautiful meals, made sure that our raft was sea – worthy, acted as translator with the hill tribe peoples and just about carried me down the mountain.  All with a remarkable patience as he sang all along the trek!

I’m so glad that we arranged to stay at some of the boutique hotels. I have to compliment the managers of the  Baan Thai [ Bangkok] and Manathai [Chiang Mai] , The ambiance of these hotels was very intimate. I appreciated the carefully chosen works of traditional art placed throughout  the facility as well as the traditional architecture.   The service could not have been better!  Compliments to the  Chefs,  and the fruit carvers!  Our only complaint was that we did not take advantage of the spa services, or to just relax in such sumptuous facilities.  I recommend that your future guests schedule some free time to enjoy these hotels!

We  were also delighted with Ankor Village in Cambodia.   The architect brilliantly broke-up what could have been an overbearing hotel of many rooms into a charming village of separate buildings, overlooking a serpentine pool. And as in the other mentioned hotels, we saw antique sculptures and beautiful landscaping through out, impeccable service, and a talented chef! We were also impressed with the dance performance.  The dancers and musicians were skilled professionals,  a cut above many of the “cultural performances for the tourist trade’ that I have seen elsewhere.

Given all my praise for the above, I was not thrilled with either the  Pavilion Rimkai, or Novotel Bangna.   My chief complaint was that facilities were not clean enough.   A little cleanser, some bleach and scrub brush would have solved the problem.   Instead, even when I asked for housekeeping to improve the situation, the service professionals just used a little surface spray, and they were finished.  Mattresses and blankets in these facilities need replacement.  However each of these hotels was just a one night stay.  My complaints are only to suggest that you might consider some of the other lovely options that Thailand has to offer your clients.   Clearly we were happy in the villages, with minimal sanitation.  I just have different standards of expectation from hotels.

Please feel free to use any parts of my letter on your web site and you may share my contact information with any of your future clients as I will sing your praises!

Thank you again

Marjorie Masel !

Dear Jiro

You organized the Tour from Bangkok to Chiang Rai and the boattour on the Mekong.

After landing in Chaing Rai we have to travel to the Busstation in the City (with a Taxi from the Airport). Then we took the bus to Chiang Khong. The Hotel in Chiang Khong was very good. We was picked up from SP Travel the other day for the Tour on the Mekong.

The Boat was a little bit mor than full, but it works (the boat leaved at 12.00). Then in Pakbeng the room was ok (but expensive when we compare it whit the room in Chiang Khong). From Pakbeng to Luang Prabang they used two boats.

In Luang Prabang we overnight in a Guesthouse. Now we are in Phonsavan and go back to Vientien tomorrow.

Thank you for your support.
Friendly greetings from Marcel and Sibylle Schaub
